Alan Mawson is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Clarendon Fund Managers Ltd, and was a founder director of Electra Innvotec in 1988. He is a director of the general partner and member of the audit committee of the Rainbow Seed Fund and Chairman of the University of Salford's Council. He is a member of the Court and a Past Master of the Salter's Company. A former consultant with McKinsey & Co, and a Director of Research and Engineering of Wiggins Teape, Alan is an organic and polymer research chemist, holding a PhD from the University of Lancaster and an MBA from MIT (Cambridge, Mass).
Neil Simms is Finance Director of, and an Investment Manager with, Clarendon Fund Managers Ltd ('CFM') having joined the company in 2002. Neil has a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Econometrics from Nottingham University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, having trained and qualified with Ernst & Young in Belfast. Neil has either led or been heavily involved in negotiating and completing multiple investment rounds, and exits, in over twenty Northern Ireland based SMEs, across a broad range of sectors and he currently represents Funds’ interests on the Board of four portfolio companies.
Jim has 20 years management experience in industrial, research, economic development and technology transfer roles. He joined Clarendon Fund Managers in November 2003 as an Investment Manager from a senior university technology transfer position. He has considerable experience of deal negotiation and working with early stage technology ventures. Jim represents the funds under management's interests on the Board of four portfolio companies. He holds a MEng in Engineering from Queen's University Belfast, an MBA from the University of Ulster and a professional investment management financial qualification.
Brian has 10 years international business and corporate development experience with a venture-backed business and was involved in its secondary buy-out before spending the next 10 years in VC fund management with Enterprise Equity in Belfast. Brian has created deals, secured funding and negotiated disposals across a range of sectors and deal types. Brian holds a BSc (Hons) and an MBA.
